With a sober formal language, Daniel Müller Jansen takes up aesthetic references of minimalism and transports the ongoing process of this art genre, which since the 1960s has moved from painting to sculpture, back into a two-dimensional representation of imagined objects. Within these geometric forms, he explores the boundaries between photography, digital painting and collage in his typical world of faded and pastel colours.
At the same time, Müller Jansen plays with the closeness and distance of the viewers to his works and with the expectations placed on an artist who comes from the world of photography. Fine details and surfaces create the effect of a deliberate process which, although in limited lines and shapes, nevertheless seems to move out of the framework of a medium with great lightness, charm and nonchalance.
