Oil paint on etched and scratched photography | different sizes
Daniel Müller Jansen has sourced old propaganda photographs of Adolf Hitler as raw material to channel his rage and frustration into his etchings and overpaintings. The results are a subversive attempt to unmask Hitler, on the one hand, and extend to motifs in which Hitler is seen as the seducer and the evil incarnate he was. Above all, the memories consciously brought about by the title support the emergence of negative emotions in the viewer. The artist uses historical photographs to chalk up current political tensions.
